Basic Parts of the Human Body (External Body Parts)

You might know the nursery song:

All the parts in the song are external body parts, meaning they are on the “outside.” These are the parts you can see. Below is a simple guide that shows some of the main body parts and what they do.

Face Helps us see, smell, taste, and talk.
Eyes Help us see.
Nose Helps us smell and breathe.
Mouth Helps us eat and talk.
Ears Help us hear.
Hair Protects our head and keeps us warm.
Neck Holds up our head and helps it turn.

Arm Helps us lift, carry, and move things.
Hand Helps us grab and hold things.
Fingers Help us pick up and feel things.
Thumb Helps us grip things tightly.
Elbow Helps bend our arm.
